Honey chicken is usually
what I cook when I make Chinese food. Soya sauce has a very over powering
taste. To pull it down and to add a bit of sweetness to the menu I prepare this
dish. My family loves it and with the left over (if any☺) I make sandwiches the
next day. Honey gives the chicken an amazing glaze and that makes it even more
tempting.
Ingredients:
Chicken – ½ kg
Oil – 1tbsp
Onion – 1 (medium and
chopped)
For marinade:
Ginger-garlic paste – 1tbsp
Onion paste – 3 tbsp
Soya sauce – 1tbsp
Vinegar – 1 ½ tsp
Tomato sauce – 3tbsp
Honey – 3tsp
Mustard powder – ½ tsp
Chilli powder – ½ tsp
Salt
Method:
- Mix the ingredients of the marinade in a bowl. Add the
chicken, mix well and leave for 6-8 hours.
- Put oil in a pan on low heat.
- Add the chopped onions and sauté till they turn pink.
- Add chicken pieces. Cook over medium heat till pieces
turn brown.
- Lower heat and add 1 cup water. Cover and cook for 20
mins or until the chicken is cooked.
- Switch off the burner and keep the pan covered for 10
mins.
- Before serving, garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
